Youth Contest Rules

1. Two Categories:
"Guppy" - Ages
up through 9
Youth - Ages 10 through 15 years of age

| 2. Solo
or Teams (2 or more)
Please note: Parental hands-off directions
only. Thank-you

| 3. Time: April 19 (Saturday) 11:00am to 2:00pm.
|
| 4. Registrations: Before contest, either at Texas SandFest or early by
mail (click for form)
Registration fee: $10 for solo or $5 per child on Youth or Guppy teams.

| 5. Rules:
A. All your
work must be done within your designated plot.
B. You can
only use the sand from within your designated plot.
C. Any
decorative materials must be biodegradable (shells, seaweed, etc.).
D. Food
coloring may be added for color.
E. Nothing may
be added to the sand except water.
No paint, flour, sugar, cement,
clay or adhesives, etc.
F. Only the registered Sculptors are allowed inside their own
plot.
G. Holes must be filled and trash & equipment removed
before the judging.
H. Plot
size: 6 foot by 6 foot.
I. Prizes: trophies/ribbons, pizzas, and candy (winners announced at
5:00pm in the Entertainment Tent)

| 6. Judging:
(winners announced at 5:00pm in
the Entertainment Tent)
The decisions of the judges are final.
The judges will be judging the sculptures
using the following criteria:
ORIGINALITY AND IMAGINATION
DEGREE OF TECHNICAL DIFFICULTY
ARTISTIC MERIT
Your entry fee helps SandFest
raise money for local charities.
