The Texas SandFest draws a great
crowd so our Vendors do well. There is no admittance fee for the
public. We have world-class sand sculptors and a wonderful festival that
attracts people from all over Texas and beyond. In 2008, SandFest will
benefit The Art Center, the Port Aransas Food Pantry, the Port Aransas Community
Theatre, and Port Aransas Preservation and Historical Association.
Most of our previous vendors return, the best spaces go first and all the spaces
are gone long before the event so be sure to send your form and fee in as soon
as possible.
We only
allow a certain number of each type of vendor.
Vendor Space -
There are four different kinds of Vendor Spaces of different sizes (with and
without parking, some with tent provided). If you have an end
space, it will cost a little extra because you will have two open sides.
You have asked for more spaces with parking which we have tried to provide this
year. The
costs vary based on size and location. The Site Plan has been
revised per recommendations from Security. Please note that this event is a
fundraiser and we ask vendors who sell over $3,000 to please make a 10%
donation to SandFest.
The four types of spaces:
Regular Space with no parking - (Prices range from
$200 to $245)
Regular with reserved parking space for a car or truck - ($300 to $440)
Food Trailer Space - (Prices range from 450 to $475)
Tent Space (under one of our tents - Prices range from $250
to $275)
PLEASE Note:
- Generators:
Only
spaces 44 thru 53 may have generators.
- Parking:
Some vendor spaces include a reserved parking space. Vendor spaces #1 thru #24 and #34 thru #58 include a reserved parking
spot for a car or truck. The
crowds are so large that the parking is very limited at SandFest so those
reserved spaces are really worth the extra cost.
All other vendors will have to park across the street and down the road.
If you bring an RV or motor home, please make arrangements to keep them at one
of the area RV parks.
-
Loading/Unloading: If
you have an interior space (one that is inside of the event grounds such as
spaces #59 through #100) you will be allowed to drive, carefully, into the event grounds to
load and unload your wares. You may
not keep your vehicle parked by your space. You
must drive on the designated route and only during the following times:
Mornings: 8:00am-10:00am
Afternoons: 4:30pm-6:00pm
-
Prices: Prices are based on size
and location. We have tried to locate all spaces around the sculptors and
price them equally. Everyone will have a good location.
-
Size: The dimensions
of the spaces are set. If you
can’t fit within one of the spaces, you must purchase a bigger space or
2 spaces.
- SandFest Demo: Our Centerpiece (called the "Demo") is 250 tons of sand which
is carved by over 20 master sculptors. Our Demo is quite a crowd pleaser
and we have divided our Solo and Duo Masters on each side of it for Security
purposes.
See the Vendor List to see which ones have already been sold.
Insurance Requirements -
Food vendors must present proof of general liability insurance for a minimum of
$1,000,000.00 coverage that is in effect during SandFest. Proof of insurance must be presented to
SandFest. Failure to present proof of
insurance will result in a forfeiture of vendor's right to participate
at the event.
Food Vendors - Food vendors need to contact the health department to
obtain the permits that are needed. Please call Harvey
Ausbie at the
Health Dept. 361-851-7234. This must be done early since there is a
mandatory class and inspection in addition to the application and fee to the County for the
permit.
All prices must be clearly posted.
Vendor Application - Application deadline is
April 1 or until all spaces are filled. No applications will be accepted
after that. Spaces are numbered on the Site Plan and the
application allows the Vendors to select the space they want, which will be
reserved as soon as we receive the space fee. Please realize that
these are on a first come, first serve basis and the web site may not reflect
the lots that have been reserved in the past few days, although it is updated
daily. It is a good idea to give your first and second
choice. Please do not call us or email us asking to have a
space held. You may email and let us know what you want to do, that way we
can be looking for your application. They can only be held when we receive the space rent.
Thanks.
Please note: If
you send in your application, and if we received it and approved it, we will
cash your check and send you a confirmation letter. Merely showing up at
the event and saying you "sent it", will not get you a
space.
Raffle:
If you are selling
candles (for example) one great way to advertise is to donate one of your
candles to our raffle. We will be raffling off items such as pieces of
art, jewelry, hotel weekends, lunches... Each item (or certificate for lunch/dinner...) is
on display during the festival along with info about the item and the company
donating it. It is a great way to advertise an item that you are selling
at your booth and to get exposure for your company. AND it helps SandFest.
Thanks to all
our generous sponsors, our raffle is getting very popular and it attracts quite
a lot of attention.
Early registration guarantees the best Vendor spaces.
Miscellaneous -
Alcohol - No alcohol can be sold at the event. We reserve the right to refuse any
Vendors we do not feel are appropriate for the Texas SandFest. No
bull-horns or other aggressive "hawking" allowed. We reserve the
right to limit certain types of vendors so, for example, there aren't too many
of any one kind of food booths.
Limited - If there are too many vendors or too many vendors selling the
same item, no one is happy...so we reserve the right to limit the number of
vendors.
Objectionable flags, signs, or activities - SandFest reserves the right
to disallow any flags, signs or vendor activities that may offend some of the
public.
Host Vendors
- We are looking for a few Vendors who might be interested in being Host Vendors
who would be able to come a few days early and/or stay a few days after the
event. We will be working on our "Demo" a couple
days early and the sculptures stay up for a few days after the event.
Host's duties would be to help answer questions and pass out flyers to people
who come early or late to the event, help watch over the sculptures, etc.
Email us if you might be interested. Click
here
Security - This event is held on the beach and there is no security for
vendors at night. Therefore all vendors need to remove all their wares and
anything of value each evening.
Cancellation Policy - Vendors who need to cancel must do so in
writing and we must receive it at least four weeks before the event in order to get a refund.
After that four week deadline, all fees will be forfeited and donated to
SandFest.
If there is bad weather, the event will be held inside at an alternate location
in Port Aransas. The Master Sand Sculptors and Amateur Sculptors will
create table-top sculptures. Vendors will be assigned vendor
spaces. We will still draw a large crowd.
We feed our Master sculptors at the event so if any food Vendors are able to
donate some lunches, please let us know. Click
here
Texas SandFest is a three-day event, April 17-19, 2009, however April 17 (Friday),
things are just getting started and there are not many people until the
afternoon that day. Therefore Vendors are asked to set up Friday
morning, no later than noon
and not Thursday evening unless you are a host vendor.
