"SandFest" Everyone loves a sand sculpting contest. What is not to love? It has lots of wonderful sculptures, from the silly to the dramatic. In our case, it has the beautiful background of the waves in the Gulf of Mexico, our sandy beaches, our great climate and warm Texas sun.
April 18, 19 and 20, 2008 we are having our
Masters
contest where Master sculptors from all over come to Port A to make pure
magic. The Masters contest is sponsored by Island Sports which has
been SandFest's Biggest and Oldest sponsor. (If you see a shop with a big
pink octopus on the roof, be sure to stop in!) Youth, Amateurs, Pro-Am Don't forget, take pictures at SandFest and enter them in our Photo Contest. We promise you will have the most incredible photo opportunities. Besides, you will HAVE to take pictures because it is the only way to show everyone at home. Otherwise they simply won't believe you about how awesome the sculptures are. The Photo Contest is sponsored by Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge. Vendors will be selling, food, drink, and various items. Since you will be able to grab something to eat, right there on the beach, make it an all day outing. Besides, you will be having too much fun to leave. When you are enjoying yourself and scratching your head in amazement of the gorgeous works of art, and you start wondering how all this fun is available FREE to the public, the answer is Sponsors. Yep, we got 'em and we love 'em. It takes a lot of money to fly the masters in, put them up, feed them... advertising... prizes... and all the things it takes to put on an event like this. Most of the "work" (sweat) has been done by volunteers. The volunteers are truly our guardian angels. But the bucks, they come mostly from area corporate sponsors. They are listed on our Sponsor's page and at the event so if you want to thank them, please keep them in mind when you need whatever they have or sell. Buy from our sponsors!
