Master sculptors from all over the world, compete, creating intricate large sculptures of sand that are incredible works of art.  You have to see it to believe it!
The three-day event is half a mile long on the beautiful Gulf Coast in sunny Port Aransas.  It is one of the biggest beach festivals in Texas and it is the largest Master's Sand Competitions in the United States!

This is the official State of Texas Sand Sculpting Festival and one of the largest sand sculpture contests in the United States!

The Entertainment Tent will have live music.  We have a Burger King Youth Tent which has free games and activities for the kids.  The  Sandcastle Condo VisitorsTent has free programs and activities for everyone.  SandFest has about one hundred Vendors' Tents which will be full of jewelry, art, and food vendors.  Information and registration for activities is at the "SandFest Central" Tent along with SandFest shirts, souviners. newspapers, etc.  

There are five different sand sculpting contests:
- The Masters Solo, sponsored by Island Sports, has master sculptors from all over the world competing to make the most incredible sand sculptures.  In the past they have come from as far away as Norway and Wales and in 2007 we had Canada, Italy and the Netherlands.
- Our Masters Duo competition which is two-person teams, sponsored by the Saturn Corporation.  
- The Sandcastle Condo's Pro-Ams which is for the sculptors who have some experience sand sculpting and are no longer amateurs but are not masters yet.  
- The Amateur Division, sponsored by CenturyTel, is open to everyone, young and old, semi-pros to novices, and has been attracting some very talented sculptors competing as either teams or solo.  
- Our Youth contest, for children up to and including 15 years of age, is sponsored by Best Western Ocean Villa.

In addition to these five different sand sculpting contests, we also have a Photo Contest sponsored by Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge,  Coastline Adventure and Whataburger hosts Lesson Mountain with free sand sculpting lessons, and much, much more fun for all ages.  Texas SandFest is very family-oriented and there is something for everyone.  

Over 100,000 people attended event in 2006.  The extensive television and newspaper coverage of the contest gave us exposure to over 2 million people in South Texas and around the country.

We will have 22 World-class Master sculptors competing this year.  In addition to having won major contests throughout the world, several of them have won titles at the World Championships in British Columbia.  

In addition to the Masters, there will be over 200 sculptors in the other contests so whether you "just watch" or roll up your sleeves and enter, a good time is had by all.

It is time for the Texas SandFest to again turn the Port Aransas beach into the most amazing sand sculptures. The three-day festival is  April 18, 19 & 20, 2008, from dawn till dusk, and the admission is free.

Our Island Sports Masters’ Solo Division and the Saturn Duo Division have 24 World-class professional sand sculptors, from all over the world, in Port Aransas, competing to create the best sand sculpture. Their sculptures are life size and each one is about 8 tons of sand. They range from the dramatic and lifelike to the zany and whimsical. Additionally, there are amateur and Pro-Am sand contests, and even a photo contest.

Texas annual beach event has gained International recognition!
The Texas Sand Sculpture Festival (“SandFest”)

Port Aransas, Texas, started a small local sand sculpting competition but in only 12 years "SandFest" has become the largest sand sculpting competition in the United States. SandFest has been successful in attracting the very best Master Sculptors in the world to this three-day sand sculpting festival, which assures an incredible presentation. SandFest is quickly building a large, loyal, group of people attending the event who come back year after year. The public along with our Master sculptors, are spreading the word that this is a “must see” Festival.

This year’s event has free sand sculpting lessons, the master’s contest, contests for youth, amateur and pro-ams, a photo contest, live music, great food, games, art, crafts, a 250 ton sand sculpture, a sand labyrinth (maze) and lots of other exciting things to do and see.
