The Texas SandFest attracts the very best world-class sand sculptors from all over the USA and other countries. Many people wonder why the same sculptors who are winning medals all over the world would bother coming to our little island. We can explain that. Ours is the first "Master's contest of the year which means that these sculptors haven't been able to compete for a few winter months and they really really enjoy getting to see one another and talk "sand." Some of the reasons they give for wanting to be in our event are that the event is well run, they have a great time, the sand is some of the best (if not "the" best) in the world, and the entire island makes sure they feel welcome and appreciated.
